Entrol installs H15 FTD 3 at Air Greenland facilities
This EC155-type unit is equipped with vibration simulation and an external mirror, and includes an external hoist operating station with virtual reality capabilities and motorised cable operation.

Air Greenland, the flag carrier of the region, has taken delivery of an H15 FTD 3 simulator at its base in Nuuk. Installation, certification and the start of training activities have already taken place.

The H15 FTD 3 is based on the Eurocopter EC155 helicopter, a twin-engine multipurpose helicopter specially used for rescue tasks, and boasts a comprehensive array of technical features tailored to provide an immersive and effective training experience. This unit, which will be certified as FTD Level 3, is equipped with vibration simulation and an external mirror and sets a new standard for realism and fidelity in flight training.

The visual system is characterised by a spherical display with a field of view of 200° x 70°, augmented by a robust database. Notably, the simulator includes specialised enhancements such as high-resolution areas with geo-specific terrain and satellite imagery covering 20km x 20km, as well as a general area spanning 500km x 500km. Additionally, it counts on a rich range of 3D objects and areas, including elevated helipads, mountain spurs, water areas and iconic landmarks, which further enrich the training environment.

A standout feature is the inclusion of an external hoist operating station with virtual reality capabilities and motorised cable operation, marking a significant advancement in training technology. This enhances training realism and effectiveness, particularly for missions such as search and rescue, offshore operations and mountain rescue scenarios.

Air Greenland was established in 1960, and throughout this time has operated a wide variety of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. Its current fleet comprises of a 2022 Airbus 330neo - 'Tuukkaq' was handed over on 6 December, 2022 in Toulouse; H155s; an H225 which flies exclusively as a SAR aircraft in North Greenland with a permanent base in Kangerlussuaq; Dash-8s; a King Air BE200B that is permanently for charter by the healthcare system; and nine AS350B3s. The company runs domestic and foreign traffic, charter assignments and tourism. In 2021 it signed a letter of intent with Avolon to lease electric aircraft.
