Aerometals wants to bring the same engine protection to the Bell 412 that it has to the H60/S70. The IBF will protect engines from foreign object damage, erosion and engine degradation.

US-based precision aerospace manufacturing company Aerometals has launched a developmental programme to certify an engine inlet barrier filter system (IBF) for the Bell 412EP helicopter.

CEO and president Lorie Symon says: “Aerometals wants to bring the same engine protection to the Bell 412 that we've been able to bring to the H60/S70 aircraft.”

Due to industry demand, Bell Textron is supporting Aerometals in the development and director aftermarket sales Jennifer Lunceford explains: “Bell wants to ensure that our operators have a solution to protect their engines from foreign object damage, erosion, engine degradation and ultimately extend engine life while lowering the cost of ownership.”

With installation of the IBF, Bell 412EP operators will see a significant reduction in premature removal and potentially reduced overhaul costs.
