The NBAA has recognised more than 100 companies and flight departments for accident-free flying as recipients of its Flying Safety Award for the period ending 31 December, 2021, including Exxon Mobil, which received the association's first 90 year award for safe operations. The awards serve as a testimony to the high degree of professionalism and safety culture within participating companies.

“Commitment to safety is fundamental to business aviation, and for our industry to thrive in the US we must be safe and must be understood to be safe,” says NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen. “We applaud our award winners for their dedication to safe operations and for inspiring the industry to follow best practices and standards for accident-free flying.”

Award recipients will be recognised during the National Safety Forum, taking place at NBAA-BACE in October this year.

50 Year Safe Flying Award recipients: Farm Bureau Life Insurance; Genuine Parts Co; MIT Lincoln Laboratory Flight Test Facility; and New York Power Authority.

60 Year Safe Flying Award recipients: Hormel Foods; and Norfolk Southern.

75 Year Safe Flying Award recipients: Corning; Crow Executive Air; and KaiserAir.

90 Year Safe Flying Award recipient: Exxon Mobil.

NBAA also recognised 88 companies for its Corporate Business Flying Safety Award; eight companies for its Commercial Business Flying Safety Award; and 54 companies qualified for its Aviation Maintenance Department Award.

The Flying Safety Awards programme was launched in 1953 by the NBAA board of directors to promote a culture of safety in business aviation operations. The association is committed to making business aviation as safe as possible and encourages all members to participate in the awards programme to enhance safe operations and gain recognition for their outstanding performance.

Additionally, the NBAA Safety Committee offers many resources to promote and support a culture of safety in business aviation operations, including, materials, guidance on matters relating to safe operations, safety management system resources, and national and regional safety events.
