GAMA makes top level placements
Dunning will foster the development and EIS of AAM technologies, products and services, and Sambiase will oversee a broader range of technical domains within certification, production and maintenance of GA products.
Director of maintenance and airworthiness Joe Sambiase.

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) has welcomed David Dunning as director of global innovation and policy, and promoted Joe Sambiase to managing director of airworthiness and regulatory affairs.

“We are excited to have David as part of our team, to support the success and growth of general aviation innovation and technologies and to oversee the activities of GAMA's Electric Propulsion and Innovation Committee. His wealth of institutional knowledge, and expertise of regulatory matters in the emerging sector of advanced air mobility, will be a great asset to our membership as we work with the FAA to enable the introduction of safety enhancing technologies and new eVTOL aircraft,” says president and CEO Pete Bunce.

As director of global innovation and policy, Dunning will manage GAMA's strategic activities to foster the development and entry-into-service of innovations in technologies, products and services, which encompasses the work of GAMA's Electric Propulsion and Innovation Committee (EPIC) and advanced air mobility portfolio. Prior to joining GAMA, Dunning served as advanced air mobility programme manager at the FAA and has over 19 years of experience in military, civil, and government aviation operations. He earned his BSc in aviation technical management from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and is a US Air Force veteran.

Sambiase joined GAMA in 2010 and is responsible for GAMA's activities related to regulatory requirements governing the initial and continuing airworthiness aspects of general aviation aircraft. In his new elevated role, Sambiase will oversee a broader range of technical domains within certification, production and maintenance of general aviation products, and provide increased representation through international initiatives and partnerships.

“Joe has done a masterful job advancing our industry's maintenance and completions/modifications agenda through cooperative work with authorities on both sides of the Atlantic. He earned this promotion through his profound dedication and expertise, and we know GAMA will benefit as he takes on these added responsibilities,” Bunce says.
