West Star's Melvin becomes first female lead technician
Jessie Melvin started at West Star back in 2017 as an apprentice. Now lead aviation technician, she will continue to work in the Bombardier department on Global projects at the East Alton facility.

US business aviation MRO specialist West Star Aviation has promoted Jessie Melvin, the first female lead aviation maintenance technician at its St Louis Regional airport facility in East Alton, Illinois.

Melvin started at West Star back in 2017 as an apprentice before growing and developing her skills over the years. She will continue to work in the Bombardier department while being responsible for Global projects at the ALN facility.

“Jessie is a great example of growth through hard work and perseverance,” says Bombardier programme director George Laiten. “She is incredibly hardworking, takes control of situations and we enjoy having her on our team."

“I am excited for the new challenge and opportunity to continue my career with West Star, while growing my skills and expertise in this field,” adds Melvin.
