Kenyan operator fights flames and preserves species
By collaborating with teams from Israel, Nairobi-based Lady Lori was able to subdue fires in the Simian Valley. In doing so it not only saved a World Heritage Site but also preserved the endangered walia ibex wild goat.
Fighting fires in Ethiopia.

Kenyan helicopter company Lady Lori recently came to the aid of the Ethiopian government as a wildfire consumed large areas of forest in the Simien Mountains National Park.

Lady Lori mobilised an AS350B3 from its home base in Nairobi and arrived in Simien Valley on 14 April. Israeli support also arrived several days after Lady Lori’s aerial work specialist pilot got to work, quelling the fire high in the mountains, up to 12,000 ft above sea level.

The Ethiopian-Israeli ground support team then positioned logistics closer to the mountain, enabling quicker rotation times for the pilot.

Lady Lori was recognised for its successful contribution to the firefighting campaign by local government officials. Its contribution helped to preserve a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the home to a number of endangered species, including the Ethiopian wolf and the walia ibex, a wild goat found nowhere else in the world.

The charter operator has locations all over East Africa. Along with providing memorable experiences for its guests, Lady Lori takes pride in serving its community, utilising resources to assist with wildlife management and conservation efforts as well as other good causes.
