SaxonAir gets back to nature at business networking event with a twist

Sustainability was the word on everyone's lips at Norwich-based SaxonAir's B2B Nature Networking event on 27th May 2022.

The SaxonAir team were joined by an array of exhibitors at the event, alongside event partners and conservation charity Explorers Against Extinction, to display the innovations across aviation as well as green innovators in other areas including NEBOair, Animals Saving Animals, Porsche Norwich, Norfolk Chambers of Commerce's Business Climate Leaders programme, Norwich Park & Ride and more.

Attendees heard from the team at SaxonAir about steps it is taking to address its carbon footprint, as well as hearing from electric aviation company NUNCATS and the Business Climate Leaders programme.

The aviation charter company, based at Norwich Airport, knows all too well the challenges and criticism aviation faces in the face of ambitious government net zero goals and the urgency felt world-round to decarbonise, and to do so quickly. But, says SaxonAir chief executive Alex Durand, aviation is an industry that is one of the fastest to innovate and adopt green practices.

“When we look at the facts, aviation accounts for just 12% of transport emissions. Compared to that, road travel accounts for more than six times that amount at 74%,” said Mr. Durand. "We need to take action across all our activities, not just the more visible ones.

“As a company, we're not just looking at ways in which we can create and adopt greener practices in our operations, but how our team can contribute to our clean goals. Whether that's encouraging cycle-to-work schemes and replacing all our lights with more efficient bulbs or introducing hybrid working and car sharing schemes.”

The event is part of the Wild Weekend event, taking place on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th May in partnership with SaxonAir and Explorers Against Extinction. Following the B2B networking event, families have been invited to join the SaxonAir team and exhibitors in the hangar on Saturday for the 'Ready to ReWild' event with Explorers Against Extinction, and in the evening are invited to let their hair down in the hangar for dinner and dancing for an evening of fundraising.
