Superfly practices diversity and inclusion and opens fifth office in Dubai

Superfly has opened its fifth charter office in Dubai after a 131% YOY increase in global charter demand, with around a third of it coming from the Middle East.

Superfly’s Sam Farshian says “I’d rather have 20 staff spread across five cities than 200 staff all in the same building. I think it’s especially important for Superfly to harness diversity especially as we deal with clients from literally all corners of the world. And I don’t just mean for the benefits of having feet on the ground in a specific region. I’m actually referring to true diversity which covers so many different strands, such as different ethnicities, diversity of thoughts, people with disabilities, gender diversity, ages, etc., as well as more inherent differences such as cognitive diversity.

"Women make up less than 10% of the non-flight attendant aviation workforce, a statistic that hasn’t changed much in decades. An employee with disabilities understands the issues of a disabled passenger better than anyone and as such has the edge in ensuring they receive the most positive travel experience possible. I want Superfly to be as diverse as our client-base. Winning customers has come from understanding customer mind-sets as well as their needs and diversity initiatives across the aviation industry will benefit everybody.”

Earlier this year the NBAA published an article titled "Expand Your Talent Base Through Diversity" highlighting the fact that business aviation needs to keep up with the demographics of the workforce. Research from Deloitte shows that diverse teams tend to solve problems faster and make decisions 60% quicker than homogenous employees and, according to the Chartered Management Institute, diverse companies are also 15% more likely to outperform their competitors.

“An investment in diversity is an investment in unique skills, new ideas and insights, and also better connections. Inclusion is getting the mix to work well to create a healthy work culture. This wonderful melting pot directly impacts a company’s bottom line. In short: profit,” says Sam.
