Le Castellet International Airport has received a temporary certification from the French Ministry of the Interior as a border crossing point from June 10th until July 1st 2018. The Circuit Paul Ricard will host the Formula 1 French Grand Prix from June 21st to 24th and the certification comes in response to the additional extra-Schengen traffic that is expected during this period.

The French airport, which is situated near the Paul Ricard race track, has been deprived of international direct connections with countries outside the Schengen area since November 1st 2016 when its border crossing point was closed. With the temporary certification the airport can now welcome flights from and to countries outside the Schengen area, such as the United States, Russia or the United Kingdom, until July 1st.

In addition, two border areas have been created with mandatory control equipment in addition to inspection and filtering facilities and staff.
