Metrojet appoints Michael Chen as general manager of Shanghai joint venture

Metrojet Limited, a leading business aircraft services provider based in Hong Kong with a presence in Asia, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Chen as the general manager for developing the company's China Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) project effective from 20 November, 2017. In this role, Michael will be working closely with Metrojet's aircraft management and charter team to lead and manage the setup of the company's AOC in China, obtaining the regulatory approvals of CCAR Part 91 and 135, as well as developing the business strategy and opportunities to support the long term growth of Metrojet in this region.

“It is my honour to be part of Metrojet to continue its growth in China,” said Michael Chen, general manager of Metrojet's Shanghai joint venture. “With the dedicated support from the team, I will put my full efforts in achieving CCAR Part 91 and 135, so that Metrojet can manage and charter China registered aircraft in the near future.”

Michael brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a reputable business leader in the market maintaining a strong relationship within the government and regulatory authorities in China. He started his career in Beijing with AMECO, a joint venture company between Air China and Lufthansa, having spent nine years in various production planning and engineering management roles. Michael was the programme manager of the US-China Aviation Cooperation Programme of the American Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, a director of government affairs and business development with Honeywell China and served as the director of business development and government affairs of GE Aviation greater China.

Established in 1995 and awarded an Air Operator's Certificate in 1997, Metrojet is a leading business jet operator and maintenance provider in Asia. The company provides comprehensive aircraft management, charter, maintenance and consultancy services, and pioneered business aviation services for 20 years in Hong Kong.
