FBO Riga aims to be most high tech business aviation center in Baltics and CIS

Flight Consulting Group, a Latvian holding company specializing in services for business aviation, has presented the capabilities on the new state-of-art business aviation center FBO Riga located in the Riga International Airport to representatives of rthe egional business aviation community. The presentation and site visit of the facilities under construction took place within the IV Baltic Business Aviation Forum held in Jurmala, Latvia August 6-7, 2015.

The new FBO Riga center includes a business aviation terminal (1200 sq. m) and a heated hangar (8400 sq. m). This is one of the most ambitious infrastructure projects that has been implemented in the aviation market of the Baltics and the CIS in the recent years.

Speaking to the participants of the IV Baltic Business Aviation Forum, Leonid Gorodnitski, the co-owner of FBO Riga, emphasized the innovative technology and know-how applied in the project: “The new FBO Riga business aviation center can be justifiably called one of the most modern and high tech FBOs. We have applied the best international practices and technology in the design and construction of the facilities. For example, we have used a support-free arched structure with a span of 98 m securely held by reinforced concrete columns. The main equipment, including an automatic fire suppression system, LED lighting and a heating system, is fixed on the arches. This allowed us to reach the capacity of the hangar of 12-14 business jets of different types, including Boeing Business Jet, within the total area of 8400 sq. m. At the same time, our hangar meets all safety requirements”.

“We see a significant interest in FBO Riga from our clients and we are looking forward to offering them an attractive range of services for the basing, parking and maintenance of business jets in Riga in addition to our existing contracts. The technical equipment of our hangar allows us to do line maintenance works, aircraft washing and cleaning. One of the important advantages is also the aircraft parking places right in front of the hangar and the terminal”, emphasized Roman Starkov, the co-owner of FBO Riga.

The attention of the Forum's participants was also attracted by the unique design of the FBO Riga business aviation terminal. The irregular shape of the building seamlessly mixed with the massive hangar creates a single architectural composition. The terminal was designed according to the current needs of business aviation passengers. On the one hand, it is designed for a minimum number of steps from its doors to the aircraft and the rapid completion of all preflight inspection procedures. On the other hand, it is a multifunctional center with comfortable seating areas, vip meeting rooms and a conference hall, an elegant bar with a spectacular airside view and an art gallery. The interior design was created by a famous Latvian designer in contemporary classical style.

“In the FBO Riga project we tried to foresee all the nuances in order to provide our customers - business aviation operators, aircraft owners, passengers and crew - with the best services ever. We are very glad that our project was highly marked by the participants of the Baltic Business Aviation Forum. This indicates that we are going in the right direction”, said Roman Starkov, the co-owner of FBO Riga.

The launch of the new FBO Riga business aviation center will also increase the capacity of the operational and dispatch center FCG Ops, which will be located on the second floor of the newly built terminal. Due to the full upgrade, FCG Ops will be able to increase capacity and improve efficiency providing the customers with high quality services in planning and dispatch support of business aviation flights around the globe.

The grand opening of the new FBO Riga business aviation center will take place September 9, 2015.
