ExecuJet celebrates record handlings for World Economic Forum

ExecuJet Aviation Group's fixed-based operation (FBO) at Zürich Airport, Switzerland, is celebrating a record period of aircraft handling for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting at Davos-Klosters.

ExecuJet handled almost 400 aircraft movements for vip passengers travelling to and from the event, held on January 21-25, including a high proportion of long-range business jets.

ExecuJet once again had an exclusive agreement with Dübendorf Airport (LSMD), a military facility located 5nm north of Zürich Airport, to facilitate additional capacity requirements during the event. For the first time, ExecuJet was able to offer its full range of FBO services at Dübendorf, in addition to the customary aircraft parking facility, including customs clearance and border control conducted by Swiss authorities. Twenty-two aircraft flew to Dübendorf directly and were handled there by ExecuJet.

The WEF Annual Meeting convenes global leaders from across business, government, international organisations, academia and civil society for strategic discussions that map the key trends and issues reshaping the world. A record number of participants attended the 45th WEF: in addition to 1,500 business leaders from over 100 countries, more than 40 heads of state and government leaders and 300 government ministers attended.

Basil Gamper, ExecuJet's Zürich FBO manager, says: “The World Economic Forum is an extremely important and busy time of year for our Zürich FBO. We handled a record number of flights for visiting vips, including heads of state from Europe and other regions. In total, ExecuJet sold almost 600,000 litres of fuel at Zurich and Dübendorf combined – a company record for the event.”

Nicole Gut, ExecuJet's director of European FBOs, added: "Once again, the ExecuJet FBO team in Zurich rose to the operational challenges of this uniquely prestigious global conference. Visiting passengers enjoyed fast and flexible turnaround times, easy access to Davos and Zürich, and the level of service to which heads of state are accustomed. We were delighted to provide full FBO services at Dübendorf for the first time as well as at Zurich Airport, offering even greater convenience and flexibility for clients. We are very proud to play our part in the smooth running of the WEF and of what our hardworking team has achieved.”
