Cabin crew development at Cello Aviation

Three members of the cabin crew at carrier Cello Aviation have qualified as pursers. It is a move that further increases the flexibility of the growing Birmingham based vip charter carrier.

Jenny Sydes from Shirley in Birmingham, Amanda Martin, who lives in Coventry and Donna Gray, of Tamworth, have qualified to fly as 'number one' cabin crew. This means that they can step in and be in charge of the cabin when required. Number one crew and pursers are also trained to take control of any emergency situation that may arise as safety is always the main consideration.

Cello operates vip charter flights all over Europe and north Africa as well as supporting scheduled airlines by providing extra capacity – the carrier has just completed a contract operating flights for BA Cityflyer.

“Now that we have Jenny, Amanda and Donna able to fly as head of the cabin services team on flights we have greater flexibility to cope with a growing workload,” said Dean Hull, Cello's head of cabin services.

As well as flying duties Donna Gray is also Cello's catering co-ordinator working with clients and suppliers to meet the often specialist dietary requirements of passengers that can include top sportsmen and women.

Nim Baines, chief executive of Cello Aviation, said: “The cabin crew have a vital role to play as the public face of the carrier. We regularly carry high profile passengers including - royalty and international celebrities. Our standards are very high, requiring not only professionalism but also discretion.”
