Hawker Pacific sells first Bell 412EPI into Australia

Following the recent, highly successful region-wide demonstration tour of the Bell 412EPI helicopter, Hawker Pacific, leading aircraft sales and product support company in Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East, is delighted to announce the inaugural sale of a 412EPI into Australia. The New South Wales Police Force will be the first Australian customer to take delivery of the latest model 412EPI.

The milestone deal, signed in Sydney, was secured due to the aircraft's exceptional capabilities as a law enforcement helicopter, as well as, other special mission, off shore and emergency medical services (EMS) aircraft. The aircraft will add to the NSW Police Force's Aviation Support Branch fleet of six aircraft (five helicopters and one fixed wing aircraft).

Tony Jones, chief operating officer, Hawker Pacific Asia, said: “It's true when they say great products are always in demand. The Bell 412EPI is a very capable aircraft, suitable to a wide range of missions, and by showcasing the aircraft to potential clients via our dedicated demonstration tour this year, we were able show up close what this helicopter can really do.”

“Just prior to our Australian demonstration of the aircraft, we were pleased to announce that the 412EPI was confirmed as compliant with single pilot, category A operations for elevated helipads. This only added to the aircraft's appeal along with uprated engines with FADEC and an integrated glass cockpit. We are proud to have secured for the NSW Police Force. Police helicopters play a crucial role in saving lives and providing assistance to the community. The public can have confidence in Bell and its ability to deliver first-class machines backed by the Bell Helicopter legendary customer support.”

Australia received delivery of its first police helicopter in 1979 – a Bell 206 Jet Ranger – which went straight into service with the NSW Police Force. Almost 35 years later, the NSW Police Force will welcome the latest addition, the new Bell 412EPI aircraft, to its Aviation Support Branch fleet in the second half of 2014.

The Aviation Support Branch provides a range of services including targeting serious, major and organised crime and counter-terrorism matters, crime operations, and search and rescue emergencies across New South Wales.

With over 4.5million flight hours, the Bell 412 has a solid history, and remains the most mission- flexible medium helicopter. The Bell 412EPI adds to this, offering a rugged airframe built with safety in mind, as well as upgraded engines that provide 15% more horsepower than the Bell 412EP. The Bell BasiX ProTM system features four 10.4” high-resolution LCD primary/multi- function display units for vital flight information in an easy-to-scan layout. The system is specifically designed to meet the requirements of twin-engine helicopters and is optimised for category A and JAR OPS3 compliant operations. The avionics suite also includes high-resolution digital maps, electronic charts and approach plates, ADS-B transponder and optional HTAWS and XM satellite links.

Hawker Pacific is the appointed distributor for Bell Helicopter products throughout Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific and the Middle East.
