Dassault Falcon adds spares inventory and cuts prices while minimizing impact on environment

Dassault Falcon is undertaking a broad initiative to expand inventories across the globe and reduce prices on more than 14,000 parts. These efforts expand the company's ability to support a growing global fleet of more than 1,900 aircraft while increasing dispatch reliability. In addition, new parts packaging is reducing shipping costs for customers while cutting down on the use of resources.

"The increasing priority customers are placing on the quality and cost of spare parts service is a strong motivation for us to further improve and expand the worldwide spares support network," said Guillaume Landrivon, Vice President of Worldwide Spares for Dassault Falcon. "Simultaneously, we are focusing on innovative ways to add value while setting the industry standard for excellent service levels."

Parts inventory growth is focused in particular on rapidly growing emerging markets. Dassault Falcon has increased inventory at its Singapore, Shanghai, Sydney and Sao Paolo distribution centers by 30% and two new parts distribution centers in Moscow and in Beijing are planned.

Since the beginning of the year, Dassault Falcon has introduced price reductions on over 14,000 rotables and high demand exchange parts. The company will soon offer to ship accompanying hardware for high demand rotables free of charge, further boosting the value of Genuine Dassault Falcon Replacement Parts. Genuine Falcon Replacement Parts carry an industry- leading warranty of two years from installation, or 30 months from date of purchase.

Additional cost enhancements for high-usage parts were recently introduced. These include a free shipping coupon guaranteeing that Falcon will cover full shipping costs for cores returned within ten days. The company will also offer rental spares flyaway kits for operators travelling to out-of-the-way destinations. These kits contain parts and components that are most likely to have an impact on dispatch reliability.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Limiting the Environmental Impact

Dassault Falcon recently unveiled new cardboard packaging that is much lighter and more environmentally friendly than traditional wooden shipping crates, while maintaining the necessary strength and structural integrity to hold up to the rigors of shipping.

The cardboard boxes offer up to five-fold weight reductions – translating into significant savings in shipping fees – without impairing packaging durability. The boxes also feature a removable side panel for easier accessibility and are 100% recyclable.

Dassault Falcon is now developing reusable containers to enhance shipment of parts provided on an exchange basis. With these containers, Dassault's customers will be sure they have the correct packaging to return the part without having to look for specialized shipping boxes themselves. The containers will also yield a significant reduction in shipping costs.

Dassault Falcon: Number One in Spares

Dassault Falcon is the business aviation market leader in spare parts availability and shipping timeliness. For several years running, the company has maintained a 98% spares service level for both combined routine and AOG shipments, defined as on-time delivery on the day required by the customer.

This standard of service is not limited only to in-production aircraft (the Falcon 900 and 2000 series family and 7X), but also applies to legacy aircraft such as the Falcon 10, 20 and 50, which represent more than 40% of the fleet. Falcon aircraft typically have an exceptionally long lifespan. For example, the Falcon 20 began operation in 1965 and four out of the nine delivered are still in service.

To maximize dispatchability and reduce the likelihood and impact of AOG situations, Dassault Falcon maintains the most extensive spares support network in the industry. The company has more than $700 million worth of inventory–representing around 300,000 unique parts–positioned at 13 strategic locations around the world. The largest stocks are maintained at Teterboro, New Jersey, Paris Le Bourget and Singapore, whose location near major airports allows for quick shipping and delivery.

AOG orders are expedited and ready to ship on average within 60 minutes.
