Dassault Falcon promotes Woody Saland to director, avionics programs and pilot training

Dassault Falcon promoted Woody Saland to the position of Director, Avionics Programs and Pilot Training.

"In his seven years with Dassault, Woody has become a very valuable resource and educator for Falcon employees and our operators," said John Rosanvallon, President and CEO of Dassault Falcon. "His knowledge of our programs, as well as his input in the development of EASy II make him a logical fit for this position."

Saland will serve as the Western Hemisphere representative of Dassault's training and operations organization, based in St. Cloud, France. Known as the Falcon Operational Support Department (DSOF), the group develops performance and operational tools; works with airworthiness authorities on certifications; develops model-specific operational procedures and training programs; and solicits input from Dassault's test pilot teams.

Other roles Saland will continue to fill include representing the pilot community in further development of the EASy platform and working with the Falcon marketing team, customer support and flight operations groups in avionics developments and updates. Saland also participates in Dassault's jump seat support program for new operators and serves on numerous sub-committees for industry groups.

In addition, Saland interacts with Falcon customers at all of Dassault's Regional M&O Seminars, where he creates and hosts the Pilot Operations sessions.

Saland is a 3,000 hour pilot with an ATP license as well as type ratings in the Falcon 7X, 900EX, 900EX EASy, and the 2000EX EASy (Second in Command). He also holds a multi- and single-engine sea plane and glider ratings.

Prior to coming to Dassault, Saland was an instructor at Flight Safety for four years. He holds a PhD in Aeronautical Engineering from New York University, and was also a professor of engineering at the New York Institute of Technology.

Saland will continue to report to Carlos Brana, Vice President, Contracts and Specifications.
