New research from Colibri Aircraft, which specialises in the marketing, resale and purchase of pre-owned private aircraft, reveals there are around 2,274 business jets registered in Europe. However, a report from Bombardier Business Aircraft reveals that between 2016 and 2025, as many as 1,530 new business jets could be delivered to the continent, worth as much as $55 billion.

This year has also seen an increase in the number of business aircraft flights in Europe. Overall, an analysis by WingX reveals there were 68,250 business aircraft departures in April this year, 5% more than the same month a year ago. Year to date, the number of business aircraft departures in Europe is up 2.8%.

Oliver Stone, managing director, Colibri Aircraft said: “There has been a stunning increase in demand for private jets in the first four months of 2018 over the same period last year. The turnaround in sentiment and activity has been remarkable.

“Several aircraft models have experienced large decreases in available supply as buyers chase the highest quality aircraft available. For example, there has been a 39% reduction in the number of pre-owned Gulfstream G550s on the market in the last 12 months.

“However, this surge in activity has not yet resulted in price increases across the pre-owned market. The rate of depreciation has most certainly slowed down, but we are still in a world of declining prices.”

Analysis by Colibri Aircraft reveals that Germany has the largest number of registered business jets in Europe with 427, followed by the Isle of Man with 312, and the UK with 212.
