Bermuda Aircraft Registry experiences large growth and expands European reach

The Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) has experienced a significant increase in registered aircraft, growing the Bermuda Aircraft Registry by 9% over the past year. The result has surpassed the forecast 3% increase. The shift from a government run department to an authority has provided a host of benefits to the registry, including becoming more business and customer-focused.

Due to demand, the Bermuda Aircraft Registry has increased its accessibility to Europe by relocating its UK office to Farnborough Airport and hiring two additional airworthiness inspectors to cover the European region.

Thomas Dunstan, director general, comments on the new office, “Farnborough Airport provides the opportunity to grow in the European market and also allows for excellent response times to clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. The airport terminal provides the added benefit of short notice aircraft inspections and Certificates of Airworthiness issued during a turnaround or layover.

“Bermuda has always been an attractive option but we are always looking at ways to enhance the customer experience by continuously making improvements to be more flexible and responsive. We put a huge emphasis on putting the customer at the centre of everything we do" says Thomas.

The Bermuda Registry has registered close to 2,000 aircraft since it was created in 1931, which ranks it as the largest offshore aircraft registry and 10th largest in size worldwide.
