Kaman K-MAX commences operations in China

Kaman Aerosystems, a division of the aerospace segment of Kaman Corporation, announced today at HAI Heli-Expo that the K-MAX helicopter has been certified by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and operator Guangdong Juxiang General Aviation Co. Ltd, based in the Guangdong Province, has commenced operations with its K-MAX aircraft.

Kaman AVMRO general manager Drake Klotzman stated, "China continues to expand its infrastructure investment in remote areas and the low operating costs and fuel efficiency of the K-MAX and its unmatched performance at high altitudes make the aircraft an ideal solution to support these investments. In addition, the K-MAX excels in firefighting and construction missions. We believe there remains significant demand across China and other emerging markets to support future production and deliveries of K-MAX aircraft to additional customers around the world."

Development of the K-MAX was led by Kaman founder and former CEO, aviation pioneer Charles H. Kaman, and received Federal Aviation Administration certification in 1994. The single-engine, single-seat K-MAX is a rugged low-maintenance aircraft that features a counter-rotating rotor system and is optimized for external load operations and designed specifically for vertical reference flight. The aircraft can lift up to 6,000 pounds (2,722 kg).
