Viking awarded Part 147 maintenance training organization approval by European Aviation Safety Agency

Viking Air Limited of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, has been awarded European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) Part 147 maintenance training organization Approval effective December 2017. Receipt of Certificate No. EASA.147.0133. marks the end of a two year period of rigorous preparation and development of the processes, comprehensive course material, and procedures required for EASA compliant Maintenance Training Organization “Exposition” (MTOE).

The Part 147 approval allows Viking to provide training to B1 and B2 licensed maintenance engineers for the Twin Otter Series 400 in accordance with EASA's standards and regulatory requirements. As the only type of training of its kind in the world, Viking's Part 147 approval fills a vital requirement to provide customers with maintenance training to a globally recognized standard.

Gregory Davis, Viking's vice president customer service and product support, stated, “This has been an exciting milestone for us, as we are now authorized to deliver fully compliant EASA 147 type training courses. With our highly experienced training team, Viking will provide our customers with courses that are delivered with the utmost level of quality and professionalism.”

Receipt of Part 147 approval caps Viking's seven years of experience providing high quality and cost-effective maintenance training services in support of its products, including initial, recurrent, and differences training courses for the Series 400 Twin Otter.
