GlobeAir: over 400 private jet flights for Cannes Yachting Festival

The Cannes Yachting Festival, Europe’s largest in-water boat show, began this week (12th – 17th September) attracting some of the world´s wealthiest spenders to the French Riviera, where over 500 exhibitors are gathered and 600 boats are on display.

As for attendance, half of the visitors are expected to be international and GlobeAir, the leading air taxi operator in Europe and one of the show’s partners, predicts a surge in the number of private jets flying into Cannes Mandelieu and Nice Cote D’azur airports for this yachting exhibition that celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

GlobeAir analysis of industry data reveals that for the show last year, the number of business aircraft flying into these airports daily was 8.8% higher than the average for the month.  In total, during the show there were some 432 business aviation flights into these airports.

Some 81 of these flights (18.8%) were from elsewhere in France, and this was followed by 69 (16%) from the UK and 51 from Italy (11.8%).

Mauro De Rosa, chief marketing and sales officer of GlobeAir, comments: “We are delighted to partner with the Cannes Yachting Festival, and to raise our profile in the international yachting and sailing industry providing the visitors with possibility of attending the boat show in a fine and fast way by landing and departing directly from Cannes Mandelieu airport.  The airport is only accessible to business jets and helicopters, and it is just six kilometres away from the port.

"According to the number of requests we have receive, we expect to operate around 60% more flights to and from the show this year.”

GlobeAir’s fleet of Citation Mustang jets is able to connect to more than 1,500 airports around Europe and north Africa, including those with a short runway not accessible to commercial airlines. Travelers appreciate the advantages of being able to cover multiple business destinations in the same day, with a flexible departure time according to their own schedule.
