elseco aviation portfolio expands with appointment of Olivier Marre as head of aviation

elseco, the fintech specialty insurance underwriting platform headquartered at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), has significantly expanded its aviation capabilities and book of business.

Industry leader Olivier Marre has been appointed head of aviation at elseco. Marre, who will be based in elseco's new London representation office on Lime Street, will lead a highly experienced team of aviation underwriters, with over 65 years of experience between them, including well-known airline and general aviation specialists Gareth Small and Darren Shearwood.

elseco's financial technology platform, which allows worldwide capacity to be efficiently deployed to specialty insurance lines, is currently supported by 70 leading insurance companies and Lloyd's syndicates. The new additional capabilities on the aviation side come with significant capacity and ability to grow the account further.

Commenting on the appointment, Laurent Lemaire, chairman and CEO of elseco said: “This is an extremely exciting time in the development of elseco, already world leader in Space underwriting and creator of bespoke innovative fintech products. This latest development on aviation lines allows us to continue to diversify our portfolios and offer best in class coverage to our clients. I am delighted to welcome on board Olivier who has an outstanding understanding of the aviation industry and its insurance needs.”

Marre remarked: “I am looking forward to developing the elseco aviation book further. The company has a unique entrepreneur mindset and, against a potentially difficult and challenging market, I am convinced we are finding ways to provide our clients with new innovative and beneficial products and solutions.”
