Pooleys to celebrate 60th anniversary at France Air Expo

France Air Expo, the only general aviation exhibition in France, will be held from June 8th to 10th, 2017 at Lyon-Bron Airport.

For this 11th edition, France Air Expo is proud to, once again, welcome Pooleys Flight Equipment, a well respected name in the aviation industry as the leading manufacturer and publisher of aviation, pilot training and flight equipment. The company is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and has decided to celebrate it at France Air Expo Lyon.

Pooleys is a family owned and operated business, founded by Robert Pooley upon leaving the Royal Air Force in 1957. In 1961, the first pilot shop was opened at Elstree Aerodrome and in 1962 the company completed and published its first Flight Guide. By 1964, Pooleys had opened its factory at Cranfield, close to the famous airfield and university. It is from this factory that most of the products in its catalogue are produced.

For 60 years Pooleys has expanded its product range and its geographical reach. It now produces the world's largest range of pilot kneeboards, flight boards and flight computers. It sells to over 100 countries worldwide and supplies companies and individuals on every continent including Antarctica. It now has five bases across the UK at Elstree, Cranfield, Shoreham, Bournemouth and Earls Colne.

2012 marked the 50th edition of the Pooleys Flight Guide, first published in 1962 and the launch of the digital edition called Pooleys iPlates.

In 2014, it launched the Pooleys Flight Booking system, an online platform for flying schools to manage their aircraft, instructors and students.

In 2016, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II honoured Robert with an MBE for his services to business and aviation. In 2017, it launched its Pooleys eBooks app putting its books into the digital sphere.

Don't miss the second largest general aviation exhibition in Europe, and join us from June 8th to 10th at Lyon-Bron Airport.
