Lycoming conducts 2017 Customer Training Seminar in China

Lycoming Engines, an operating division of Avco Corporation (a Textron Inc. business), successfully held its 2017 Customer Training Seminar in Wuhan Hangda Group from 27 February to 3 March.

The training was delivered by Adrian McHardy, Lycoming's regional manager of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa. McHardy has worked for Lycoming Engines for more than 20 years. The instructor provided a systematic explanation to the frequently asked questions during engine maintenance and combined theory and practice throughout the training.

This seminar attracted more than 110 attendees, including officials from CAAC ACC (Airworthiness Certification Center), CAAC FCCC (Aviation Fuel & Aerochemical Airworthiness Certificate Center) and Regional Administration of CAAC. Also, more than 40 operators attended this seminar, including CAFUC, Sky-blue flying academy, AVIC flying academy and Shanxi Phoenix flying academy, etc. Textron Aviation's Cessna representative supported this seminar. Other aircraft OEMs and suppliers including Diamond Aircraft, Cirrus Aircraft, Shanghai Sikorsky and Hartzell also attended. This seminar worked as a valuable discussion platform for attendees.

In addition, on 16 February 2017, Wuhang Hangda Group successfully obtained CAAC Part 145 approval for Lycoming overhaul capability, and became the second overhaul facility after CAFUC in China, increasing the support structure to better service Chinese customers.

According to data released by CAAC, B-registered general aircraft in China has reached 2,543 by end of 2016, which include 786 aircraft powered by Lycoming engines. In the future, Lycoming intends to hold additional trainings in China together with Cessna, Robinson or Hartzell to enhance service for Chinese customers and to support Chinese GA safety initiatives.
