AsBAA co-hosts ABACE17 for third year

Asia's biggest air show approaches again and AsBAA is primed to have its best ever show on behalf of its members. The AsBAA at ABACE17 line-up has grown in the last three years to now include: general opening session speeches, member led education sessions on days one and two and the students day on the morning of day three.

At ABACE17, AsBAA has opted to focus on creating new showcasing and marketing opportunities for its members through its AsBAA at ABACE17 led activities. “ABACE always represents a unique time in the calendar to engage with the members, but as the association grows, AsBAA is now looking for new ways to add value and create opportunities for its members. Part of my remit as a new member of the board of governors is to ensure our members can easily access the marketing benefits available through the association. For example, reducing spend on B2B by accessing the industry network through AsBAA and using AsBAA as a platform to engage stakeholders". said Amy Yang, board of governors. "We are looking to go beyond direct engagement with the association. We now seek to create a platform from which marketing can be executed, messaging communicated and new relationships brokered. We hope that our members take the opportunity to talk to us at ABACE 2017 about the new ways in which they can make the most of their membership in terms of marketing benefits. We encourage everyone to come and see us at booth: H109,” she added.

A vital role AsBAA provides is a solid platform for networking. Unique opportunities are created for new entrants to Asia or for existing AsBAA members to promote their services and share issues with their peers and other industry experts. As a co-host of ABACE, the association created its branded “AsBAA at ABACE17 education sessions” with networking and marketing in mind. Members can showcase their professional skills, expertise and company profiles using the education sessions as a platform to engage existing and new stakeholders. This year there is a great line up that focusses on all the key interest areas of our industry: safety, finance, government relations, security, open skies, maintaining asset value, drones, education and careers.

Members stay on top of aviation industry trends by leading or participating in one or more of these sessions or by joining the association's professional sub-committees, by attending its annual conference, events and meeting with the AsBAA board of directors, regulators and government officials. AsBAA has made some great progress over the past year, some of the highlights include:

- Removal of restrictive regulations for foreign registered business jet owners flying in domestic Indonesia.

- Streamlining the slot coordination and apron operations in Hong Kong airport for business jets.

- Obtaining permission to perform maintenance tasks at remote bays at HKIA.

- Compact parking introduced at Shanghai and HK airports.

- Expansion of hubs in the Pearl River Delta to include temporary CIQ at Zhuhai with possible commercial helicopter links to follow.

- Conducted and sponsored the first cross border charter flight by helicopter from HK to Zhuhai during the air show in Nov 2016.

- Student Chapter initiative rolled out across mainland China, Singapore and Hong Kong.

AsBAA was founded back in 1999 as a non-profit association that represents its members in advocating the general and business aviation industry in a positive and unbiased manner whilst creating positive sector relations and opportunities for growth. The association now represents around 130 members and 2017 is the third year in which it has co-hosted the almighty ABACE event with its US counterpart, NBAA.
