Axnes AS is pleased to announce that the defense and security company, Saab, through cooperation with Axnes will move ahead with an STC and installation kit project to perform installation of Axnes' new PNG wireless intercom system into the Leonardo AW139 platform. This will enable existing AW139 operators to retrofit their helicopters with the professional PNG system, the most advanced wireless ICS on the market. Saab is holder of an EASA Design and Production Organization approval as well as an EASA maintenance approval and has the capability to support with design services and modification work for all kind of aircraft, airborne equipment and support equipment.

Trygve Sten Gustavsen, CEO of Axnes, states, "Axnes is extremely pleased that the highly-rated defense and security company Saab is taking the steps to bring our new enhanced products into the Leonardo 139. Saab's experience and reputation is unrivalled in our marketplace and we are proud that they have confidence in our new product line and see the value in offering its installation within their customer base. Furthermore, the 139 is one of the most important and popular airframes in the medium twin category, widely utilized within offshore, ambulance and rescue services worldwide. Most of these aircraft have Axnes' former product line factory installed, and Saab's effort will give these operators easy access to our new and improved technology and safety enhancing features."

The PNG installation kit can be seen at the Axnes exhibit #7452 during the Helicopter Association International (HAI) Heli-Expo tradeshow from 7-9 March 2017 in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.

The PNG system is a mission capable wireless ICS extension, which enables crew to maintain full duplex communication when leaving the platform at line of sight range. PNG can be retrofitted and configured to work with any existing ICS or helmet/headset combination and is designed to qualify for all relevant aerial, maritime and ground vehicle platforms - both civilian and military. Wireless communications are enabled by a PNG base station connected to the platform's ICS. A number of advanced features can be accessed by an on-board communication control panel. Industry-leading, non-interrupted VOX, noise and echo cancelling technologies enables communications in the most severe noise environments. Secure communications are made available through software or hardware encryption according to customer requirements. Various handheld transceivers are available, both amphibious and nonamphibious. Different handheld devices can be mixed within the same system and there is no limitation to number of units connected.
