Great North Air Ambulance Service praises Multiflight for helicopter flight training

Multiflight, a specialist in advanced flight training for qualified helicopter pilots, has received praise from the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) for the quality of its training provision.

“The Great North Air Ambulance provides consultant level pre-hospital care in the North of England, operating three Dauphin N2s in partnership with Multiflight,” said Andy Mawson, deputy ops director for GNAAS.

“The service we receive is absolutely second-to-none and it is a pleasure to work alongside such a professional and dedicated team that looks after all of our aviation requirements within one company. Pilots, engineers and support staff are all part of the GNAAS family and by having such an effective partnership we have been able to innovate and explore new opportunities.

“Our work is by nature difficult to predict; our crews operate in high pressure and often very challenging situations but Multiflight provide an adaptive and responsive service and will always go above and beyond to make sure we are able to conduct our operations and continue to save lives.”

Further praise for Multiflight comes from Dr Jeff Doran, consultant anaesthetist and course director of the PHEM Crew Course. He said: “The past few years have seen the Great North Air Ambulance take a leading role in the provision of training to doctors and paramedics starting their careers in pre-hospital emergency medicine/HEMS.

“We currently believe we offer the only 'one stop shop' for external candidates to come and complete the clinical and aviation training required for HEMS crew certification (EASA compliant). Multiflight have been an essential partner in the development of this training. Their experience in aviation theory, HEMS regulations and crew resource management (CRM) is invaluable to us as a training organisation and this is bettered only by the professionalism of their instructors.

“The aviation training provided by Multiflight regularly achieves top scores on candidate feedback and we look forward to continuing to develop the training that we jointly provide.”

Multiflight specialises in advanced flight training for qualified helicopter pilots, including instrument, instructor and type ratings, at its base at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Its helicopter instructors all have the highest grades of professional licence and broad experience of flying in adverse weather conditions and demanding environments.

Multiflight is an Approved Training Organisation (ATO) and can offer conversions and Instructor training onto a range of different helicopter types, including the AS350, AS355, AS365 Series and Bell 206. It offers Crew Resource Management training, TRI (H) Course, and the Helicopter Crew Course (Air Ambulance/HEMS technical crew qualification).
