Press Release

Issued by London Biggin Hill Airport Ltd.

June 24, 2016

London Biggin Hill Airport welcomes Bombardier service centre

Bombardier Business Aircraft of Montreal, Canada will establish a wholly-owned service centre at London's Biggin Hill Airport (LBHA). The new unit is planned to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2016 and will have a heavy maintenance capability providing scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, modifications, avionics and AOG support for Bombardier Learjet, Challenger and Global series aircraft.

Bombardier Business Aircraft says that enhancing its customer service and support in the London area has been a top priority and that the planned new facility at LBHA will provide greater flexibility for their customers, particularly when coupled with access to its entire worldwide service centre network. The service centre will be based in a modern hangar of 3,065 sq metres (33,000 sq ft) associated with a large ramp area.

Robert Walters, business development director at Biggin Hill, has warmly welcomed the arrival of Bombardier in London. “Their decision to locate at Biggin Hill Airport reflects well on the long-term initiatives promoted by the airport, the London Borough of Bromley and the Greater London Authority to establish a clear vision for the future of the airport as a dedicated business aviation facility. Supporting this will be the ability to recruit staff at all levels from within the London area” he says.

“Bombardier Business Aircraft will be adding significantly to the existing 65 businesses with more than 1,000 employees already based here” he continues.

“Probably the biggest single factor that has encouraged Bombardier Business Aircraft to consider LBHA as a London area base has been the extension of airport operating hours that have recently been ratified by the London Borough of Bromley Council. This extension, so vital to business development, will contribute substantially to the flexibility and facilitation of customer movements” Robert Walters says.

LBHA offers a fast-track gateway to central London and the City and offers award-winning VIP handling, extensive hangarage and maintenance support for all ranges of business aircraft.

London's new Mayor, Sadiq Khan, has added his own special welcome to Bombardier Business Aircraft within the London area.

“Bombardier's investment in Biggin Hill is a significant coup for London, not only creating jobs but cementing the city's reputation as a leading destination for investment from across the world. Foreign investment is a key driver of jobs and growth for the London economy and I look forward to establishing City Hall as a strong voice for business, both at home and overseas” Mayor Khan said.
