AsBAA announces inaugural industry awards and charity gala dinner November 2015

AsBAA, the Asian region's non-for-profit representative body for business aviation, has confirmed that it will be hosting its inaugural industry awards at its charity gala dinner in Hong Kong later this year. AsBAA's first ever awards ceremony will be hosted at the AsBAA charity gala dinner, 6 November 2015 at the beautifully ambient and historic Hullett House in Hong Kong.

Announcement of the awards and gala dinner forms part of a wider programme of activity scheduled by AsBAA. AsBAA chairman Charlie Mularski shared: “We mentioned earlier this month following the CJI conference in Singapore that we are committed to engaging with our members. We're also committed to growing our membership which in turn will increase our influence and ability to tackle of the issues the industry is facing in Asia. It's vital that AsBAA is working to make headway on our initiatives relating to regulatory reform and the student chapter, but it's also important to take a step back and recognise the good work of the industry. One of the ways in which we can do this is by hosting and attending key events such as this. The AsBAA inaugural industry awards will be a fantastic opportunity for the whole industry to stand up and be counted, vote for its leaders and contributors on merit, raise essential funds for Orbis, and of course, have fun!”

The announcement of the AsBAA inaugural industry awards detailed that the awards will be assigned under the following categories:

Best Manufacturer, Best Operator/Management Company, Best Business Support Services (legal, insurance etc.), Best Service Support Services (fuel, MRO etc.), Best Handling Agent, Best Brokerage, Woman of the Year, and the Michael Davies Award (for the Man of the Year). Kevin Wu, vice-chairman, AsBAA said: “We're looking forward to gauging industry opinion on the leaders in these areas. Our team is creating an online voting platform through which attendees can vote in advance of the event. The results will be announced on the evening and will be based purely on votes and merit. I'm sure this will make for an interesting evening for all involved”.

The latest AsBAA announcement also included details on available sponsorship packages. David Best, vice-chairman, AsBAA said: “We are very proud to host this event, which we hope will raise US$25k in essential funds for AsBAA's chosen charity, Orbis' Flying Eye Hospital. We're now looking to the industry for support and to get in touch and be part of this exciting project as a sponsor. We look forward to seeing all our members and the wider industry at the charity gala dinner, which we're working, to ensure becomes a real highlight of the industry's social engagement calendar."
