Diamond Aircraft DA62 receives EASA certification

On April 16th, 2015 Diamond Aircraft received EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) type certification for its newest twin engine aircraft, the DA62. At AERO Friedrichshafen Patrick Ky, EASA executive director, personally handed over the type certificate to Christian Dries, Diamond Aircraft ceo.

Diamond Aircraft realized the DA62 from the idea to final certification in only three and a half years.

The all-composite DA62 is powered by two 180hp AE330 Jet-A piston engines from Austro Engine burning just about 5.9 USgal (22 liter) per hour and engine when flying with 160kt. The aircraft is available in two different configurations. The 1,999 kg MTOM version can accommodate five persons, while the 2,300 kg MTOM type is able to carry seven passengers. The basis for both configurations is the same and can be down-graded or up-graded according to customer's needs.

The DA62 was introduced for the first time in a completely new look at AERO Friedrichshafen. By changing the production process for this aircraft any paint or color scheme can be chosen.

With a maximum speed of 201 kts, a maximum range of 1,314 nm (2,433 km), the spacious cabin and superior flight characteristics, the DA62 is the perfect choice for private owners, air taxi companies and corporate operators.

The DA62 order book has been formerly opened at AERO Friedrichshafen and twelve units have been sold already.
