London Oxford Airport hosts Embraer Legacy 500

London Oxford Airport welcomed Embraer's newest certificated family member, the midsize Legacy 500 last week as a company demonstrator flew in as part of a brief regional tour. While this was the first 500 series to touch down on UK soil, its arrival coincided with the first delivery to a private customer, just ahead of the National Business Aviation Association Meeting (NBAA) in Orlando this week. The Legacy 500, which obtained US FAA certification this week and newest family member, the Legacy 450 mid-light jet, are showing in the static display at Orlando Executive Airport during 20th to 23rd October.

London Oxford Airport is currently home to two Legacy 650 aircraft, operated by Hangar8 Plc and Lonon Executive Aviation with (maintenance capability at the airport provided by Hangar8 Plc) and one Phenom 100. However, these past six months have seen it handle a varied number of aircraft types (Cessna Citations up to Bombardier Globals) from 'new' non-resident customers.

“I'm pleased to report that the promotional offer we publicised during EBACE in Geneva in May has yielded a significant increase from non-resident 'new' operators,” said London Airport managing director Andi Pargeter. The offer, a 50% reduction on landing fees and all parking, including long term parking, for new visiting aircraft is still valid through to 31st December for all executive aircraft of MTOW four tonnes or over. “We have been able to track responses from the companies we met during EBACE and are pleased to report an increase from European based operators (especially Germany and Austria) has been achieved,” she added.

The intention now is to focus on Middle East and Far East markets – with a focus on business jet operators and aircraft management companies.
