Academy 147 Limited awarded EASA Part 147 approval in Malta

Academy 147 Limited in Malta received an EASA Part 147 maintenance training organisation approval on Thursday August 21st, 2014 from the regulating authority Transport Malta – Civil Aviation Directorate.

Academy 147's initial approval covers EASA Part 147 Level 1 aircraft familiar generlaisation courses for three different business jet types; the Bombardier Challenger 604/605, the Global Express/5000/6000 and the Learjet 60/XR.

According to Nick Ebenhoeh, accountable manager of Academy 147 “It's been an exciting few months for us. In October, we will be hosting our first two level 1 fam gen courses at the Hilton hotel in Malta. Our participants will receive a thourough explanation of the aircraft type, its systems and maintenance planning. This course is targeted at continued airworthiness engineers (CAM) to improve their understanding of the aircraft and how to operate the aircraft cost effectively with less down time.“

In recent years, the Maltese islands have become a hub for business jet operators to register their aircraft. There is a general lack of training on the island, especially for business jets. With many operators moving to Malta, there is an ever increasing need for their personnel to be familiarised with the aircraft.

Academy 147 plans to couple their training courses with the warm Mediteranean climate and festive atmosphere of the Maltese islands. Participants can even bring their families along, combining their training with a short holiday. Academy 147 has signed corporate agreements with the best hotels on the island to offer students a complete package including training facilties, accommodations, as well as daily lunches and refreshments throughout the duration of the courses.

The company also offers on-site training whereby their team will conduct trainining courses on location for the customer that their facilities or a nearby conference centre.

“With our highly experienced team, Academy 147 will provide its customers with courses that are delivered with the utmost level of quality and professionalism. Our instructors are highly experienced engineers holding EASA Part 66 approved B1 and C licences as well as having many years of hands on experience with the aircraft. In the next year, we intend to increase our offerings and add several new aircraft to our list of approvals.“
