Helicopter pilot careers advice available at UK events this month

Helicentre Aviation Academy will be participating in several aviation careers events this month to assist future professional helicopter pilots pave their way into the industry. The events which include the Leeds FLYER Professional Flight Training Exhibition, and Farnborough International Airshow will provide potential new pilots with advice on how to train to become professional helicopter pilots, as well as providing information on job prospects for new pilots, ways to fund training, and the range of available scholarships which cover a substantial amount of training costs for the selected candidates. Helicentre Aviation is currently on a recruiting drive for pilots, instructors and operations staff, and has already created many new positions within the company since the completion of their brand new facilities this year at Leicester Airport. The emphasis on aviation based careers has historically focused on the airlines and how to become a fixed wing pilot, and there has always been a general lack of awareness as to how to get into flying helicopters professionally. Helicentre Aviation run frequent career seminars which are free to attend and are aimed at increasing awareness as to the range of careers available. ! The FLYER Professional Flight Training Exhibition at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds takes place this Saturday 12th July where the Helicentre Aviation team will be exhibiting. The event will include a special presentation from the Aviation Skills Partnership, who are working in conjunction with Helicentre Aviation and Middlesex University on a BSc (Hons) Professional Aviation Practice (Helicopter) degree, which is a work based learning programme allowing trainee pilots to apply for student loans and grants to contribute directly towards the actual cost of flight training to obtain their professional pilot’s licences.
The Helicentre Aviation team will also be at Futures Day at Farnborough International Airshow, exhibiting as part of the Aviation Skills Zone. The event has been designed to give young people a chance to see the exciting career opportunities available in the dynamic sectors of Aerospace and Defence. Futures Day takes place on Friday 18th July and the Skills Zone will remain in place throughout the rest of the air show on Saturday 19th July and Sunday 20th July for anyone who wishes to gather information about training and the best route to employment as a pilot.
Finally, Helicentre Aviation will be holding their own Careers Day to include an open day and BBQ at their Leicester Airport base on Saturday 26th July. The event includes a Career Seminar from 10:00 with a chance to meet the staff, charter pilots, instructors, existing student pilots and previous scholarship winners. The Aviation Skills Partnership will also be attending so this is a golden opportunity for those looking to obtain valuable careers advice from the people who have been there. Trial lessons will be offered throughout the day at cost for those seriously interested in training to become helicopter pilots, and visitors will be able to view the training aircraft and facilities. The winner of the 2014 Flight Instructor Scholarship will also be announced during the day. The event is free to attend and you can register at www.flyheli.co.uk/openday
