NetJets approved to fly Global aircraft to and from London City Airport

NetJets Inc., a Berkshire Hathaway company and the worldwide leader in private aviation, announced today that the London City Airport Authority has approved certification to operate its NetJets Signature Series Global aircraft to and from London City Airport. The certification will enhance NetJets service by offering its Global customers the opportunity to utilize a strategically located airport in London.

“NetJets is the first and only private aviation company to receive approval to operate its Signature Series Global aircraft in and out of a key airport in London,” said NetJets chairman and ceo Jordan B. Hansell. “We continue to offer our customers innovative, value-added differentiators that make NetJets stand out from its competitors. This is one more example of how we continue our leadership position by providing a unique service that no other private aviation company can offer at this time.”

While London City Airport is a busy business airport - NetJets already has the dominant presence there - it has additional specified safety criteria for take-offs and landings due to its position in the heart of the city. There are a number of requirements, including pilot training that results in accreditation, enhanced weather criteria, and adherence to strict noise abatement procedures that are in place.

“Our top priority at NetJets is always the safety and peace of mind of our customers, their guests and our crewmembers,” added Hansell. “We continue to work with the London City Airport Authority to ensure that NetJets crewmembers are trained at the highest levels and fully accredited to use the airport. We are doing this because it allows us to better serve our customers with an airport that is conveniently located in London.”

NetJets received accreditation by performing rigorous test flights with successful take-offs and landings at London City Airport in a NetJets Signature Series Global aircraft. The company is now in the final stages of training all NetJets Global crewmembers to use the airport.

“For customers who fly the NetJets Signature Series aircraft, this certification will further enhance the service offerings they receive, allowing them to fly from over 5,000 airports worldwide to the heart of London,” said NetJets Europe chief operating officer Mark Wilson. “NetJets is able to offer a unique service that no other business aviation operator is currently able to do.”

The NetJets Signature Series Global aircraft, which includes the 5000 (U.S. only) and 6000, are ultra-long-range jets designed and built exclusively for NetJets by Bombardier. These best-in-class business jets are among the fastest in their class and equipped with new state-of-the-art avionics, including the Bombardier Vision Flight Deck. The NetJets Global aircraft raise the bar and set new standards for large cabin comfort, technology and safety for travellers flying long distances, such as New York to London, Seattle to Tokyo, Houston to Buenos Aires or New York to Los Angeles.
