Luxaviation acquires Abelag and gives birth to one of leading European business aviation groups

Luxaviation today formalized its acquisition of business aviation company Abelag and integrates the Belgian company into the Luxaviation group. The closing was signed by executives of both aviation companies on June 20th. Adverse weather conditions still threatening Luxembourg and Belgium at noon, prevented the Luxembourg Minister of economy, Etienne Schneider as well as Minister Johan van de Lanotte and the press from both countries from attending the ceremony at Brussels airport.

In the afternoon of 20 June 2013, Luxaviation group closed the acquisition deal of aviation company Abelag. The Luxembourgish business aviation group will take advantage of a series of synergies and will be able to significantly optimize the range of services offered to clients. As a result of the acquisition Luxaviation group relies on 300 employees including more than 100 pilots. By operating a fleet of 50 planes within its world footprint, Luxaviation group counts amongst the leading European business aviation companies.

Luxaviation group operates three business aviation companies: Luxembourgish Luxaviation which celebrated its 5th birthday on the date of the announcement; fully owned German operator Fairjets of which the Luxembourg company acquired an initial majority stake in 2011 and Abelag, the Belgian aviation company which now allows Luxaviation group to become a group of international scope.
