June 10, 2013:
Viking Air Limited of Victoria, BC, has appointed Richard Libby to the new role of director, aircraft sales. Richard will be responsible for managing the global sales efforts for the Twin Otter Series 400 aircraft.
Richard brings over 20 years of aviation and leadership experience to Viking's expanding international Series 400 network, shifting from his most recent role as director of sales for the asset management group at Bombardier Aerospace. In addition, Richard's strong engineering and aerospace background will provide a solid foundation for product development in line with Viking's future goals.
“We are pleased to welcome Richard to our executive team,” said David Curtis, Viking president & ceo. He continued, “Richard's years of aircraft sales and leasing experience will be an asset to our Twin Otter Series 400 international sales program, and his previous involvement with turbo-prop aircraft products at Bombardier Aerospace is an added benefit that will no doubt ease his transition to Viking.”
Richard will be taking over new aircraft sales from Robert Mauracher, vice president of business development, who helped establish the Twin Otter Series 400 as the fastest selling turbo-prop in the 19-passenger category. Rob Mauracher has tendered his resignation from Viking in order to pursue other opportunities in the commercial aviation sector.
With Twin Otter Series 400 in operation in 16 countries and a backlog exceeding $400M, the Series 400 is now confirmed as the best-selling next generation turbo-prop aircraft in its class. Viking provides OEM support for the worldwide fleet of de Havilland legacy aircraft (DHC-1 through DHC- 7) and forms part of Westerkirk Capital Inc, a Canadian private investment firm with substantial holdings in the hospitality, aviation, and real estate sectors.
