Dassault introduces 'Falcon Manuals' – the next generation of flight documentation

Dassault Falcon recently unveiled 'Falcon Manuals', the next generation of flight documentation for Falcon operators. The product is presented within 'Falcon Sphere', a newly-designed touch-based user interface for the popular CMA1100 Electronic Flight Bag (EFB).

The most significant feature of Falcon Manuals is access to a new generation of Dassault flight documentation that is cross-referenced with smart links for quick, easy consultation and a virtually paperless cockpit.

"With electronically cross-referenced flight documents, a pilot can quickly look up supplemental information across multiple sources in a matter of seconds, saving precious time, as well as avoiding the encumbrance of physical manuals," said Eric Monsel, Vice President, Programs, at Dassault Falcon.

Current linked documents include the Quick Reference Handbook (QHR) 1 and 2; Crew Operational Documentation for Dassault EASy (CODDE) 2; and the Aircraft Flight Manual (AFM). Future generations of Falcon Sphere will include additional flight documents.

Flight documentation viewed with Falcon Sphere can also be customized to a specific aircraft and its modifications, which streamlines documentation by eliminating non-relevant sections of the AFM. "By customizing documentation to a specific serial number aircraft, the operator creates a safer and more efficient cockpit environment," added Monsel.

Falcon Sphere's improved user interface supports the full range of applications including performance software such as Falcon Perf, and third party applications like Jeppesen FliteDeck and XM Weather.

Falcon Sphere will be available for the 7X in January, 2013. It will be released for the Falcon 900EX EASy and the 2000EX EASy during the second quarter of 2013, after which it will be standard on all new aircraft delivered with CMA 1100 EFBs. The program will also be available for Windows-based computers for flight departments to support administrative duties. It will be offered in addition to current PDF and hard copy options of Falcon flight documentation.
