In February of 2012, EASA MRO provider, M.C.M. Maintenance Centre Malta Ltd. (M.C.M.) received its AMO approval from the NCAA (Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority) to provide line and base maintenance on 5N registered aircraft in Malta. On the 24th of September 2012, the MRO was awarded with an approval by the NCAA to provide line maintenance in its Lagos, Nigeria facility for Nigerian registered aircraft (Murtala Muhammed International Airport).
Together with their partner, EAN (Evergreen Apple Nigeria), the company now provides maintenance for EASA and Nigerian registered aircraft in Lagos. The aircraft types include: Dornier, Cessna, Gulfstream, Hawker Beechcraft, Diamond and the full line of Bombardier aircraft. Additionally, the facility houses wheel and battery work shops.
The business aviation market in Nigeria has been rapidly growing mostly in part of the country's large supply of natural resources and multinational organizations operating in the region. Alexander Vit, managing director of M.C.M. Maintenance Centre Malta Ltd. had to add, "We are proud to offer maintenance solutions in west Africa which meet the safety standards of EASA regulations. This will create a bench mark for high quality maintenance standards in Africa while putting confidence into the consumer's mind."
