Air Service Basel hosts return to service of "homeless" Avro 146

Air Service Basel recently hosted in its spacious hangar facilities the extensive maintenance works required for the return to service of a long term-parked Avro 146 aircraft.

Following a time period of more than one year during which the aircraft had been parked on the airport's main tarmac without being operated, Air Service Basel was tasked by the aircraft's owner to facilitate the maintenance works required in order to achieve a ferry flight permit. In Air Service Basel's spacious and well equipped hangars, a field team of highly qualified specialists dispatched from another approved maintenance organization managed to restore the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.

Upon its re-positioning flight to an appropriate base maintenance facility, the aircraft is intended to undergo a comprehensive inspection in order to finally achieve its full airworthiness again.

"Special projects like providing ad-hoc hangar space and accommodating this Avro 146 special maintenance project demonstrate Air Service Basel's ability to meet extraordinary and unusual demands and provide flexible support, even on short notice, to the full satisfaction of our customers", says Claudio Lasagni, CEO of Air Service Basel.
