Dassault Falcon adds $40 million to global spares inventory

Dassault Falcon significantly increased its global spares inventory in 2011 by adding nearly $40 million (USD) in high-usage spares to its strategic distribution locations to improve availability levels for Falcon operators around the world.

"Customer missions illustrate that they view their Falcon as a truly global business tool, and we've responded over the last year by placing even more high-usage parts in strategic locations to support their operations," said Guillaume Landrivon, Vice President Worldwide Falcon Spares. "We're already planning ahead as emerging markets in India, Asia and Latin America continue to embrace the benefits of business aviation, and we are placing significant inventories of spare parts in those locations as well."

New forecasting and planning software tools helped to guide the inventory placement, according to Kevin McNeill, Director of Spares for Dassault Falcon. To further improve dispatch reliability for Falcon operators, Falcon Spares placed the Top Ten Flight Delay and Cancellation parts as well as the Top Twenty High Removal Parts at all worldwide spares centers.

Dassault Partners with UPS Singapore to Increase Availability in Asia

To supplement Dassault's spares inventory in Singapore, this year it partnered with UPS Singapore to create a regional spares distribution center that will have nearly 20 times the previous inventory. As part of a global shipping company, UPS Singapore can leverage its well-known logistics and distribution capabilities to ensure a high level of availability for Falcon operators throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Dassault plans to have $9 million in spares stocked at this regional distribution center by the year's end.

Worldwide, Dassault has $700 million in spares inventory composed of 130,000 unique part numbers placed in 13 distribution centers across 11 countries. The largest inventories are located in Teterboro, New Jersey and Paris-Le Bourget, France which are near major airport hubs and allow for expedited shipping and delivery.

Throughout this year, Dassault Falcon has maintained a 98% spares service level, defined as on-time shipment on the day required by the customer. In addition, through strategic planning and forecasting, this year Dassault has executed 92% same-day shipments on the more than 250,000 transactions with Falcon customers. The more than 250 employees dedicated to Falcon Spares have an average service longevity of over seven years with the company.
