Overview

Bombardier’s Learjet 70 and 75 are updated versions of the earlier Learjet 40/45 series, that incorporate technology developed in the creation of the Learjet 85. The 70 and 75 have canted winglets, Garmin G5000 avionics and are powered by two 3,850 lbf Honeywell TFE731-40BR turbofans. Thus they offer faster climb times, better short field performance and improved hot and high capabilities than their predecessors.

The cabin of the Learjet 70 is 17 ft 8 ins long and seats up to seven passengers; that of the Learjet 75 measures 19 ft 10 ins and seats up to nine. They have a pocket door and the 50 cu ft external baggage hold is heated but not pressurised.

The Learjet 70 and 75 were announced at EBACE in 2012. FAA type certification was granted on 14 November, 2013, they entered service in December, and EASA certification followed in September 2014.

Production of the Learjet 70 was temporarily discontinued in 2016.

In June 2019, Bombardier launched the Learjet 75 Liberty, a six passenger model with fewer seats, no auxiliary power unit, external lighting or lavatory sink. The Part 25 certified aircraft had a purchase price of under $10m and entered service on 13 October, 2020.

On 12 February, 2021 Bombardier announced it would end production of all Learjet aircraft by the end of the year.
