Overview

The DHC-3T Otter is a single engined, high wing, propeller driven STOL aircraft developed by de Havilland Canada. It was designed as a larger and more powerful version of the DHC-2T Beaver, with a longer fuselage, greater span wing and cruciform tail. The Otter made its first flight on 12 December, 1951, received Canadian certification in November 1952 and entered production shortly after. It seats up to 11 passengers.

The DHC-3T Otter is powered by a 600 hp Pratt & Whitney R-1340 geared radial; geared for lower propeller revolutions and consequently lower airspeed. It can also be fitted with skis or floats.

The Twin Otter variant features two wing mounted Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-27 or PT6A-34 turboprops.
