The CRJ100 is a regional jet manufactured by Bombardier between 1991 and 2006; the first of its CRJ (Canada Regional Jet) family. The design was based upon a stretched Challenger CL600 fuselage and accommodates up to 52 passengers.

The CRJet programme had been launched in early 1989 and the first CRJ100 prototype made its maiden flight on 10 May, 1991 from Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International airport. Certification was received in 1992 and customer deliveries commenced later the same year.

The CRJ100 is powered by two GE CF34-3A1 turbofans mounted on the rear fuselage, each capable of generating up to 9,200 lbs of thrust.

Two longer range variants were introduced: the CRJ100 ER and the CRJ100 LR. A cargo door retrofit was developed for installation on former passenger-configured aircraft to extend the useful life of early-built aircraft.

Bombardier sold the entire CRJ line to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in 2020.
