Overview

Having merged its Beech and Corporate Jets subsidiaries, Raytheon announced the King Air 100 series in May 1969. The King Air 100 was a stretched derivative of the Model 90 that had a higher gross weight and used the wings, tail and PT6A engines of the Beech 99. It first flew on 17 March, 1969 and could seat up to eight in corporate configuration, or a maximum of 13.

It was superseded by the Model A100 in 1972, with a further increase in MTOW, greater fuel capacity and four-bladed propellers. Production of the A100 ceased in 1979.

The King Air B100 first flew in March 1975 and was introduced in 1976. It was produced alongside the A100 for several years. Although the B100 has the same fuselage as the A100, it has a higher gross weight and offers some performance advantages. It is powered by two 715 hp rated Garrett TPE331-6-252B engines that drive three blade props.

Production ended in1983.
